UPDATE

Again, same old, same old. Not a lot going on. It's been very slow lately. I'm thinking about heading over to the MRI department to see what that world is all about.

Clinical Update

As normal, not much to report. Not much out of the ordinary has been going on. One thing I have to report is that I have enough exams and I am eligible to the the CT certification exam. YEAH!!!

Clinical Update

Not much going on. It's been very slow at the clinic, yesterday we only had three people scheduled and we added on three while I was there, so like I said it's been slow, slow, slow.
I am happy to say that I have about 10 more exams before I'm eligible to take the certification test. YEAH!!!!!

Clinical update

Yesterday we had a woman come in for a 3-phase liver. She has a history of hepatitis and known cirrhosis of the liver. This was the first time that I've seen cirrhosis of the liver. Her scan revealed a very small liver that appeared very bright, her spleen was very large, she had a large amount of ascites going on throughout her entire abdomen including the para colic gutters and the pouch of Douglas. It was a very interesting scan for me, as I don't see pathology very often.

Clinicals update

I ran the CT department by myself the other day. It was a very successful day, and the radiologist was very happy with my work.

Clinical update

This semester is flying by!!! Mostly doing the same things. We've had more extremities. I finally got to see a PE Chest the other day and we did two HR chests the other day also. Those are few and far between. But otherwise all is going well.

clinicals update

I really wish I had something thrilling to say. But I don't. I'm getting kinda bored, I definitely think working in a hospital would be more exciting.

clinicals

Well, there definitely has been nothing exciting going on the same old thing just a different day. Still in an out patient center with all walking and talking patients, albei busy.

More Pathology

I have seen a couple more masses in the chest that are cancerous per the MD, I saw a very large cyst ( I think it was roughly 7x7cm) on a patients kidney the other day also.
It's been a very productive semester, I've learned a lot.

Finally!!! Pathology

Yesterday I finally saw a pathology after all these weeks. It was on an older woman who was complaining of SOB and was in for a chest xray, the xray tech showed the films to the radiologist because she had a huge area in her upper left lung that looked like a mass. The radiologist called over to see if we could do a scan on her while she was here so we did. She had a CT of the chest with IV contrast, she had a huge mass like I said in the left lung that enhanced after injection. The radiologist believes that this mass more than likely is cancerous.

I like my clinical's and am learning a lot and on ideal patients all walking and talking (out patient center) the only drawback is I definitely do not see a lot of pathology.

clinical update

I wish I had more to say, but not much out of the ordinary has gone on. Again, doing my clinicals in an outpatient clinic, not seeing much pathology, but definitely getting good scanning experience.

Clinicals update

Well there is not much to say. This place is not that busy, they do a little bit of everything that is not invasive. I really haven't seen anything exciting, all outpatients that look to be normal for the most part. Maybe a large cyst or two here and there.

Clinicals

I am now doing clinicals two times a week and things are going well. It's an outpatient center so I don't see the trauma that I would at the hospital but I am learning quite a bit. I injected for the first time ever yesterday, it was a little nerve racking but I got it on the first try, hopefully that will become less intimidating as I continue to inject.

Clinical experience

I started a week late doing clinicals and I am only going once a week for now. So basically, I've been there one day.

I didn't learn that much it was a slow day they had cancellations because of the weather, so I only saw about six scans. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I think it will be difficult to remember all this because I am only going to be there one day a week for awhile.
